Westport Swimming Club

Westport Swimming Club was established to give young local swimmers the opportunity to achieve their potential in the sport of competitive swimming.
The Club
is based in Westport Leisure Park, and is run by professional coaches Barry Robinson and Peggy Dever, with the assistance of a committee of parents who work on a voluntary basis. The Club is affiliated to Swim Ireland the National Governing Body for Competitive Swimming in Ireland.

Every year the competitive swimming season runs alongside the academic calendar year, and in Westport the training year is broken into three separate terms from September to Christmas, Christmas to Easter and Easter to Summer.

New swimmers focus on swimming fundamentals, acquiring swimming skills, and learning to train with our Development Coach Peggy Dever, and our more experienced swimmers who train several times per week, focus on training to train, and training to win, with Head Coach Barry Robinson.

The weekly timetable is detailed below:

     Monday:         16:30 - 18:30
     Tuesday:         18:30 - 20:00
     Wednesday:   17:15 - 18:45
     Thursday:       17:00 - 18:45

     Friday:            13:30 - 15:00

Westport Swimming Club has enjoyed tremendous success over the years, at Regional, National, and International level competitions, and Westport swimmers have won Gold Medals in The Irish Open National Championships, The Irish Age Group Championships, The Irish Minor Schools Championships, and The National Finals of the Community Games.

Westport Swimming Club is always seeking new talented young swimmers who like swimming, and may be interested in competitive swimming.
So, if you are comfortable swimming lengths of the pool, and proficient in two or three of the swimming strokes, come and join us, and give yourself the chance to be the best you can be at swimming.
New candidates are assessed free of charge and we are more than happy to welcome swimmers from any swimming programme who are willing and able to try competitive swimming.
